Woke to beautiful blue sky and a tranquil Atlantic . It's Sunday so our host packed us a picnic lunch for our travel to Luarca - around 24 kms away. It's the first day of summer and the farmers are making hay and silage in the fields. We stop at a fruit shop - everything is fresh and juicy- and that's only going to get more so.
Climbed 740 metres on mainly dirt and loose metal tracks. The views to the ocean are wonderful- it's sometimes difficult to see where the sky ends and the sea starts today. Small rural farmers use baling twine and sticks for fences and bed bases for gates . Some cattle are still being kept indoors. All this has a backdrop of giant viaducts and highways keeping the main traffic away from the villages . EU progress is in vast contrast to the village life.
Today we had our first siesta outside a church in the sun . It was crowded as today is Sunday. Oh and we are enjoying the pastries and breads that we can eat a lot of as we are walking more than a half marathon most days,
Luarca is another lovely coastal town- our hotel is gorgeous. It's central and on the camino route out in the morning.
Two questions on our mind today - what are the fale style structures outside every house - and where are the other perigrinos- we saw none today and only met 2 tonight ?
PS: getting our tan on!
