This is our last day following the coastline which has provided gentle breezes to soothe us through our days.
"The book" tells us to refuel as we are going particularly rural! Going into modest climbs,foreshadowing the steeper mountains calling us nearer.
We have a day off to catch up and then the final 9 days walking.
Physically the asphalt are harder days , the constant pounding on joints being wearing by the end of the day , to be relieved by vino tinto .
The population is 10,000 , the king has abdicated , life continues to be blissfully peaceful.
Came across wheel chair guy again... Made a documentary called "Little World" about getting from Barcalona to New Zealand" with no money .It won an award for best short documentary. His name is Albert Casals , he had leukaemia at five he must be known as cars were just stopping to talk or help him. We first came across him the day before going up what I thought was a steep hill!
On that note I am looking forward to throwing out all 6 pieces of clothing I have bought along and dream of the home grown chops from the farm .
I could number all the little everyday pleasures like the happy greeting of a pet, the familiarity of friendships and loved ones , the freedom of choice around food ,the pleasure of working and being of service .
Ok so I'm crying - and have to say can't wait to have you home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a welcome sign that says 200 odd km to go;
